Security Cameras for Toronto Homes

Someone getting into a house almost always comes through one of four places: the front door, the driveway or garage, the back door, or the side gate. We put a camera on each one that matters for your home. The cameras record in HD, see in the dark, and send an alert to your phone the moment they pick up a person at the door. Our cameras connect over WiFi, so there's no cable back to a recorder, and you choose whether they're wired, on battery or wired with a battery backup. That's why security camera installation in an older Toronto house rarely means opening up walls. Here is more on how we plan and install security cameras.

Video doorbell installed beside a front door

Front Door & Porch

A video doorbell or a camera over the porch shows who's at the door, records parcel drop-offs and lets you talk to visitors from your phone. On older homes with deep covered porches, where it's mounted matters: set too far back, faces end up in shadow.

What you get

What you get

  • See and talk to visitors from your phone
  • Parcel deliveries recorded
  • Alerts when someone walks up, not for every passing car

Good to know

  • Battery doorbells don't need existing doorbell wiring
  • A bright west-facing door can wash out the picture, so we angle for it

Driveway, Garage & Laneway

In Toronto, driveway and laneway coverage is worth getting right. A camera above the garage or on the back corner covers parked cars, the garage door and anyone coming up the laneway. Where there's no outlet nearby, a solar or battery camera does the job.

What you get

What you get

  • Parked cars watched overnight
  • Night vision across the driveway
  • Solar or battery options where there's no outlet

Good to know

  • To read a licence plate, the camera has to be closer than most people expect
  • Headlights and street lights can set off alerts, so we set motion zones to cut that down
Floodlight security camera on the back of a house

Backyard, Side Gate & Indoors

Back doors, patio doors and the narrow passage between houses can't be seen from the street, which is exactly why they get targeted. Outdoor security cameras on the back corners cover the yard, and a floodlight camera lights it up and records at the same time. Inside, a camera can cover the main hallway or keep an eye on a pet while you're out.

What you get

What you get

  • Light and video in one device
  • Patio doors and side gates covered
  • Indoor cameras with a privacy setting for when you're home

Good to know

  • Cameras should face your own property, not into a neighbour's yard
  • Trees and fences look different in summer and winter, so we check the view for both

A Typical Security Camera Layout for a Toronto Home

A lot of Toronto houses sit on narrow lots, with a front porch, a back door onto a yard or laneway, and a tight side passage. Here is where the cameras usually go. We adjust it once we've seen your place.

  2. Driveway or parking padA camera above the garage watches vehicles and the garage door.
  3. BackyardA camera on the rear wall covers the back door, deck and yard.
  4. Side passageA corner camera covers the gate and the narrow path between homes.
  5. Your phoneLive view, recordings and alerts in one app. Video is saved to the cloud or to local storage, depending on the camera.

Alarm System Installation in Toronto

A burglar alarm covers what a camera can't: someone actually opening a door or a window. We install door and window sensors, motion detectors, a siren and a keypad, all linked to an app so you can arm and disarm from anywhere. If you'd like someone watching when you can't, 24/7 professional monitoring is available. Read more about alarm systems and 24/7 monitoring.

Condos and Townhouses

Fewer ways in, so it's usually a sensor on the front door, one on the balcony door and a motion detector in the main room. The sensors attach with adhesive, so there's no drilling into condo walls.

Houses

Ground-floor windows, the back and side doors and the basement windows (older Toronto houses tend to have a lot of them) are grouped into zones. That way you can arm the main floor at night and still move around upstairs.

Before we leave, everyone in the house learns how to arm and disarm it.

Traditional Alarm or Smart Security System?

If you've been comparing security companies, you've probably seen two kinds of systems. Here's how they differ, so you can choose what fits your home.

Traditional Monitored System

  • A control panel and keypad wired into the house, with sensors on the doors and windows
  • Cameras wired to a recorder in the house, so video stays local with no cloud plan needed
  • Works without your home WiFi
  • Watched around the clock by a ULC-listed monitoring station, which some insurers ask for
  • A monthly monitoring fee, usually on a multi-year contract, with the equipment often bundled in

A good fit for: very large properties, or when an insurer or building asks for ULC-listed monitoring.

Smart Security System

What we install
  • Watch it live. Watch every camera and talk to whoever's at the door, from anywhere.
  • See what set it off. When an alert goes off, open the camera and see what caused it.
  • No contract. You own the equipment, and if you move, it comes with you.
  • Lower monthly cost. Plans run from a few dollars a month for video recording up to about $30 for 24/7 professional monitoring with cellular backup, usually less than traditional monitoring. Saving video history needs a plan on most cameras. Or pay nothing monthly and just get live view and alerts on your phone.
  • Ready for outages. The alarm has battery backup, cellular backup keeps alerts coming without internet, and battery or solar cameras keep recording in a power cut.
  • Everything in one app. Arm the alarm, lock the door, give a guest a code and see who came home.
  • Easy to add to. Add a camera, sensor or smart lock any time, with no rewiring.
  • With professional monitoring, you get a certificate to send your home insurer. Check that your insurer accepts it.

A good fit for: most houses, townhouses and condos.

Not sure which is right for you? We'll go through both at your free assessment and recommend what actually fits your home.

What We Plan Around in Toronto Homes

Older Brick Houses

Many houses in old Toronto, York and East York were built long before WiFi. Thick brick and plaster walls block the signal, so a camera on the back of the house can keep dropping off. We check the signal at every camera spot and add a mesh unit where it's weak.

Semis and Row Houses

You share a wall, and often a side path, with the house next door. We angle the cameras to cover your door and your side of the path, not your neighbour's.

Condos

Downtown and North York condo buildings usually limit what can go on the outside. Indoor cameras, a video doorbell where it's allowed, and a sensor on the door are often all you need.

Detached Homes in the Boroughs

Houses in North York, Etobicoke and Scarborough tend to have bigger lots, double garages and more doors on the ground floor. They usually need more cameras and a full alarm.

Doorbells, Smart Locks and WiFi

Most people add one or two of these to their cameras or alarm, and we install them in the same visit. We can also put in a smart thermostat or smart lighting while we're there. More on Ring doorbell and smart lock installation and smart home installation.

Video Doorbells

Answer the door from your phone, see every delivery and get an alert when someone walks up. It shows up in the same app as your cameras.

Smart Locks

Unlock with a code, your phone or a fingerprint. Give the dog walker or the cleaner their own code and delete it when you're done. No more spare key under the mat.

WiFi for Your Cameras

A camera is only as good as the signal it's on. We test coverage at each camera spot and add mesh WiFi where brick walls or distance get in the way.

How Your Installation Works

What happens from the first call to the final walkthrough.

1

Free Assessment

We come out, walk the property with you and ask what you're actually worried about: the car in the driveway, parcels on the porch, the back door.

2

A Plan and a Clear Price

You see where each camera and sensor will go and what it costs before anything is installed. No surprise add-ons on the day.

3

Clean Installation

Cameras and sensors are mounted, cables are hidden wherever the house allows it, and every device is connected to your WiFi.

4

Set Up on Your Phone

We set up the app, motion zones and alerts so you hear about people at the door, not every car that drives past.

5

Walkthrough and Testing

We test every camera and sensor with you, show everyone at home how it works, and you're covered by our 1-year warranty from that day.

What Comes With Every Install

You Own the Equipment

Everything we install is yours. Depending on your needs, you can run your system with no monthly fee or add a cloud video or monitoring plan. Contact us and we'll walk you through the options.

1-Year Warranty on Parts and Labour

The equipment is covered for a year through the manufacturer, and we handle the claim for you. Our labour is covered for a year too. Premium packages add a second year of labour.

Protection That Keeps Running

A power cut won't switch your alarm off, because it has battery backup built in. Plug-in cameras pause during a power cut, while battery and solar models keep going. Add cellular backup and alerts still reach your phone when the internet goes down.

24/7 Monitoring If You Want It

Professional monitoring plans are available if you'd like someone watching around the clock. We'll explain the options at your assessment. Compare our packages →

Areas We Serve in Toronto

We install across all six parts of the city: old Toronto, York, East York, North York, Etobicoke and Scarborough, as well as the rest of the GTA. Just west of the city, we also install home security systems in Mississauga and security cameras in Brampton.

Most Toronto houses are well covered with three to five: a doorbell camera at the front, one on the driveway or garage, one on the back of the house and one for the side passage or laneway. Bigger lots need more. We give you an exact number after we see the property.

For most Toronto houses, it's cameras and an alarm working together in one app: a video doorbell at the front, outdoor cameras on the driveway and the back of the house, and door and window sensors on the ground floor. Condos usually need less. We recommend a setup at your free assessment based on your home, not a fixed package.

We install modern security camera systems that do everything CCTV does and more: HD WiFi cameras that record, send alerts and play back on your phone. We'll help you choose the right cameras for your property.

A smart system keeps you informed on its own: your phone gets an alert the moment a door opens or someone walks up, and you can check every camera from anywhere. If you also want someone to respond when you can't, add 24/7 professional monitoring, and a monitoring centre will act on alarms around the clock. It's the same system either way, so you can start with one and add the other later. We'll help you choose at your free assessment.

For most homes, WiFi cameras are the better fit. You can choose wired, battery or wired with a battery backup, and they connect over WiFi, so there's no cable to run back to a recorder. They record in HD and send alerts and clips straight to your phone. For spots without an outlet, battery and solar models are available. Recorder-based systems are more common on very large properties with many cameras. We'll recommend what fits your property.

Many insurers offer a discount for a monitored alarm. With professional monitoring on your system, you can get a monitoring certificate to send to your insurer. Discounts vary by company, so it's worth checking with yours.

Yes. We're a home security company serving all of Toronto. We install security cameras, video doorbells and alarm systems, with 24/7 professional monitoring available.

Yes. We're an Authorized Ring Partner, trained by Ring to install and set up its cameras, video doorbells and alarm systems, and we also install Eufy. We'll help you choose the brand that fits your home and budget.

Yes. Along with cameras and alarms, we set up smart home automation such as smart lighting, smart locks and thermostats, plus whole-home WiFi so every device stays connected. Most people add these during the same visit.

Yes. We install across all six parts of the city: old Toronto (downtown, midtown and the east and west ends), York, East York, North York, Etobicoke and Scarborough.

Depending on the camera, you can record around the clock or only when motion is detected. Either way, you get an alert on your phone when a person or a car shows up, so you can jump straight to what matters.

A camera-only package with two outdoor cameras and a video doorbell starts at $499. Packages with an alarm start at $899 for Essential Protection, $2,249 for Complete Home Security and $4,449 for Premium Smart Security. Prices are before HST and include the equipment, professional installation and warranty. Condos often need less and larger homes more, so we give you an itemized quote for your Toronto home before any work starts. See all packages and prices.

It's up to you. You own the equipment and there's no contract, so you can run your system with no monthly fee. You can also add a plan, from a few dollars a month for video recording up to about $30 for 24/7 professional monitoring with cellular backup. Contact us and we'll walk you through the options.

Every install includes a 1-year warranty on the equipment, which we handle with the manufacturer for you, and a 1-year warranty on our labour. Premium packages add a second year of labour.

Your alarm keeps working in the house, and the built-in battery covers power cuts. Cameras that plug into power pause during a power cut unless they're battery or solar models. With cellular backup, which you can add to any package, alerts still reach your phone. Premium also keeps your WiFi running on backup power. The exact backup features depend on the brand you choose, so contact us for details.

Yes. Most condo buildings have rules about anything mounted outside, so we usually work with indoor cameras, a video doorbell where the building allows it, and door sensors that attach without drilling.

Yes. We install cameras and alarms for small businesses, offices and storefronts in Toronto. Call us and we'll come take a look.
